My birding journey started in Singapore. I have since had the opportunity to explore bits and pieces of Southeast Asia, Japan, as well as a tiny fraction of North and Central America.

Apart from pursuing birding as a hobby, I am also interested in science, especially ecology and evolution. I am a Researcher and Conservationist both by profession and during my free time. The works that I have had the privilege to be involved in are listed under “My Contributions”.

My blog was previously named unintelligentbirder, as inferable from the photograph watermarks in my pre-2021 trip reports. I have since changed my blog name following advice from many. Having said that, each new knowledge I gain somehow never fails to leave behind a sense of self-admonishment. I guess that feeling is part of what motivates me to read up, research, and attempt to make the knowledge available for others.

I pack my trip reports with as much logistical details as possible because most of my travels so far have primarily been self-organised. Of course, I only share information within reasonable boundaries, details like rates/stakeouts of the guides/people I engage are not publicised in my public reports unless I have permission. I also try to highlight species that are worth investing extra effort in the field, such as potential splits and hard-to-see targets. I sincerely hope that my trip reports will be useful.
